Barcelona (Catalonia) North Spain Destination
Barcelona is one of the most thriving cities in the world, with a vast variety of cultural highlights, the typical lifestyle of a Mediterranean sight, all gastronomical features one can dream of, and just an amazing cosmopolitan atmosphere. The city’s architecture is a visual delight. Not only due to the remaining masterpieces of Antoni Gaudí, such as the world-famous Sagrada Familia, which is definitely a must-see when in Barcelona. With a massive list of must-sees, a weekend trip to Barcelona is quickly filled with wonderful activities. Strolling around the historic center, enjoying Park Guell, visiting one of the many museums, relaxing on the beach, and of course making use of the innumerable restaurants and bars the city offers. Not to be forgotten are the sport sites including the setting of the Olympics of 1992 on Montjuïc, or the emblematic Camp Nou Stadium of the famous FC Barcelona.
In short distance to the city, several getaways are close-by, such as the Montserrat mountain area for some hiking, the enchanting town of Sitges for some water activities, or the well-known Costa Brava for some relaxing holidays in the coastal area. Another idea is to visit Figueres, the hometown of Salvador Dalí, where he built his very own museum, which is a fascinating experience as well.
