Porto is a very panoramic and atmospheric city, located in the North of Portugal. The Douro River flows through the city and creates a beautiful and mysterious view onto the colourful houses of the riverfront of the second largest city of Portugal, which can be best seen from one of the 6 bridges connecting the two divided city parts. The area around the river is called Ribeira and is a perfect and relaxing place to stroll around and get to know the Portuguese culture.
Porto is the origin and the namesake of the famous Port wine, as well as the actual origin of the country name Portugal. Cultural highlights are for example the Modern Art Museum or the spectacular Casa de Musica, the music hall of the city. Other than that it is best to walk around the old part of the city, exploring the cathedral, the Palacio de Bolsa (former Stock Exchange Palace), or one of the many museums.
