VITORIA

Vitoria-Gasteiz is the 2nd biggest city in the Basque country. Beautiful buildings and monuments like the cathedral Santa María or several astonishing museums are already enough reasons for a visit , with their architecture, they give the city a historical and inspiring flair. The Plaza de la Virgen Blanca (white virgin square) is also worth a visit. Several famous writers such as Ken Follet are said to be inspired by this municipality. Big squares for festivities, the light show ‘portico of light’, interestingly themed museums like the Archaeological and Fournier Playing Cards Museum, and the Green Belt make this city a very attractive tourism destination. The Green Belt of Vitoria-Gasteiz is a nature tour of parks built peripheral around the city. Not without a reason the city was announced European Green Capital in 2012. The Basque country gives the city a quite traditional touch and equipes the area with a beautiful natural surrounding.
