ALMERÍA

Almeríans call their home ‘the real Spain’, because of the wonderful weather, the deeply Mediterranean flair, the breathtaking beaches and a rich and diverse cultural program. Almeria has also the only desert-like area of the whole of Spain, the Tabernas desert. A lot of unspoiled beaches cover the coastline, creating a perfect destination for holidaymakers, as well as nature lovers and backpackers, with the many national parks and areas that seem unexplored and can only be discovered on foot.

There is a huge Moorish castle in Almería, the second biggest of the Muslim fortresses in Andalusia after the Alhambra in Granada. The city and its harbor gained importance after developing a popular silk industry. This city is one of the latest Andalusian capitals to become a tourism destination.
